Music Makes Sense - 002 - Dan Hayes

After starting to learn how to mix nearly 6 years ago, Dan Hayes has always been into his electronic music but started off with progressive house along the lines of Swedish House Mafia. As he started University he was heavily influenced by his lifestyle and the people around him which got him into the deep house scene.

From there, Dan developed a more defined taste of the house music that he enjoys, becoming a big fan of the work and the music produced by Toolroom Records. This was noticed when he won the Evermix DJ competition in January 2016 in which Tool Room Records was associated with.

Some of the DJ’s that hugely inspire Dan are Jacky and Latmun, both of these producers with their amazing basslines and punchy tunes always fit into Dan’s play style and Dan loves to feature their tracks in his sets. Cristoph is also another influence onto Dan’s mixing style from the wide variety of performances that hes played and meeting Cristoph himself helped him out a great deal in his earlier stages of DJing. Hot Since 82 also plays a key feature of what music he drives towards today.

His style of playing is to find tracks that suit well together when it comes down to the baseline but also have a slight twist to them. He pushes himself to find obscure tracks that no one would often find associated together to create a vibe that is unique to himself.
